The Modern School of Film has announced that Feist will be its special guest at its screening of the Robert Mitchum classic Night of the Hunter on Oct.10 at the Mark Miller Gallery in New York City.
Leslie Feist’s latest release, Metals, has been selected as the winner for the 2012 Polaris Music Prize. The award honors the best album from Canada, which is judged by a panel of music critics. The albums are judged strictly based on artistic merit, and a panel of grand jurors selected the winner as the awards ceremony was in progress. Past winners of the Polaris Music Prize include Arcade Fire, Fucked Up and Caribou. Feist beat out Drake, Fucked Up and Japandroids for the prize.
Feist has released a new video for “Anti-Pioneer," and it’s quite a far cry from the pillow-smashing fun of her recent Feistodon clip.
Feist and Mastodon (a.k.a. Feistodon) have released an interactive video that combines the two artists' versions of Feist's “A Commotion," off her 2011 album Metals.

Last night, in support of last year's Metals and RSD, Feist stopped by The Tonight Show With Jay Leno to perform the single "The Bad In Each Other."
Feist recently announced a May 21 performance with Bon Iver at the Red Rocks Amphitheater, which is during her spring world tour. You can find the dates here.
Check out the performance below.
Feist released today the artwork for her split with Mastodon, which is titled Feistodon. The single is set for a Record Store Day release on April 21. The artwork was released today through a post on Spin and features Feist's image mashed together with guitarist Brent Hinds' easily recognizable, tattooed hairline and an illustrated "Black Tongue," which is also the title of the Mastodon track Feist is covering for the 7" single.
In other Feist news, the songwriter released a video for “Bittersweet Melodies,” a track from her most recent album, Metals, through Rolling Stone. The video features the work of Argentinian photographer Irina Werning, which features subjects photographed in the same setting, clothing and pose, but with decades between the images to show aging.
Take a look at the video below.
Feist and M. Ward delighted London audience members last night by performing a surprising cover during their gig at the Royal Albert Hall. The two singers played “Sometimes Always,” from The Jesus and Mary Chain’s 1994 album, Stoned & Dethroned. Feist and M. Ward actually gave the song a faithful reinterpretation, too, so check it out the fan-shot footage below.
Lee Ranaldo will hit the road in April behind his upcoming solo album, Between the Times & the Tides. M. Ward will open for 10 dates for the North American tour starting May 5, Pitchfork pointed out. Disappears, which features Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelly, will also open for Ranaldo on two dates.
Ward will also open for Feist for some upcoming European dates, and he'll have the reunited fIREHOSE open for a few West Coast dates. You can check out Ranaldo and Ward’s tour dates below.
